THE TERMS OF ADMISSION TO HIGHER EDUCATION IN 2021 HAVE BEEN APPROVED.

Today, October 15, the order of the Ministry of Education and Science on approval of the Terms of Admission for the next year was published. According to the document, the main stage of the introductory campaign in 2021 will take place in July.

“We plan to conduct the next admission campaign in July 2021, so that both entrants and members of the admissions committee have time to rest before the start of the new school year. As it is not yet known how the situation with the spread of coronavirus will develop, almost all entrants (including on the basis of OQR junior specialist) will be able to apply for admission electronically. To register an e-office, you must have at least one EIT certificate and a document of complete general secondary education, made in Ukraine using photopolymer technologies. We also plan to make it possible to submit documents for enrollment remotely: directly through the electronic office of the entrant using an electronic signature, “- said Acting Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Serhiy Shkarlet.

As in previous years, next year entrants to medical specialties (“Dentistry”, “Medicine”, “Pediatrics”) will need to have at least 150 points in the second and third competitive subjects in order to participate in the competitive selection. However, this requirement will not apply to those whose competitive score is higher than 175. The obligatory subjects of external evaluation for admission to these specialties will be Ukrainian language and mathematics, and the third subject the entrant will be able to choose biology, chemistry or physics.

Applicants for the humanities and social sciences will be required to complete an external examination in the Ukrainian language and literature, while applicants for other specialties will be able to use the right to take tests only in the Ukrainian language. Experts of the Ukrainian Center for Quality Assessment (UCEQA) assure that the Ukrainian language test will also contain competency tasks that involve knowledge of the literature. External EIT certificates in Ukrainian language and literature 2018-2020 can be used for admission to all specialties.

Also next year, for most specialties, the list of EIT subjects that can be used as the third competitive subject has been significantly expanded (see Annex 4 to the Conditions of Admission).

There is a limit on the number of applications that an entrant will be able to submit for non-budget tenders (contract) – a total of no more than 30 applications. In addition, to avoid misunderstandings with the provision of recommendations for the contract, the applications of those entrants who are included in the budget will be automatically excluded from all other bids unless the entrant himself wishes to leave them (if he plans to study in more than one educational program , in more than one educational institution, etc.).

What will change for master’s entrants? A single entrance examination in a foreign language (EMI) for a master’s degree will be mandatory for all specialties. Weights have been introduced to give more weight to the professional entrance test – now the institution will be able to increase the weight of the score for the professional test, leaving at least 25% for the foreign language exam.

In the new year, entrants to the master’s program will be able to use the results of the EMI 2020 and 2021, the results of the unified professional entrance examination (EHR) – only in 2021.

By December 31, 2020, all higher education institutions must approve and publish their admission rules, which must comply with the Conditions of Admission to Higher Education in 2021.

We will remind, public discussion of the project of Strategy of development of higher education of Ukraine for 2021-2031 proceeds.
